This month, there are loads of fantastic new updates and features for apps in Microsoft 365 including Whiteboard, Teams, Visio, Power Automate actions and triggers in Teams, and more.
Quick overview:
For Admins
Provision Users to Azure AD
Admins can now automate user provisioning to applications and other resources to help support HR and employee life cycle scenarios like recruiting a new employee. The integration between Azure AD and SAP SuccessFactors, it will help reduce possible dependencies on IT help desk with both onboarding and offboarding duties.
This integration will ensure new employees can get started from day one.

Power Automate
Actions
We know managing a team’s administration can be complex, especially in large organisations. Fortunately, with the new Power Automate features, the new features in Teams should help admins streamline tests.
You are now able to automate an app mentioned within a flow. For example, you can build a flow to automatically @ mention a new member added to the team. Power Automate will send a personalised message to the new member when they join which will also alert them in the team.

Triggers
Another update for Power Automate in Teams includes a new trigger. Users can create customised actions directly within a message with the “for selected message” action trigger.

For example, users can build a trigger to automatically create a tasked planner. This trigger can help streamline critical business processes.
These two actions are available in the Power Automate app within Teams.
Secure Windows 10 Devices
With many companies still allowing employees to work remotely, it’s crucial to ensure their devices are protected. With the new experience available in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, small-to-medium-sized businesses can deploy a lightweight security policy.
The policy applies to all the Windows 10 devices enrolled in Microsoft Intune with Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
Security settings include:
- Help protect PCs from viruses and other threats using Windows Defender Antivirus
- Help protect PCs from web-based threats Prevent network access to potentially malicious content on the Internet
- Help protect files and folders on PCs from unauthorized access with BitLocker
- Turn off device screen when idle for this amount of time

Whiteboard on Teams and the web
For August, Microsoft spoke to their senior product marketing manager, Andrea Eoanou, who talked a bit about the latest features for Whiteboard on Teams and on the web.
Why is Whiteboard powerful for people working from home?
“Whiteboard is our free form digital infinite canvas. You can add as much content as you want. And the canvas is infinite, meaning that you can continue to add. You can zoom in and out. You can also add text, sticky notes, and drag and drop functionality to the Whiteboard.
With us being in this remote and hybrid environment right now, it’s even more important for our users to feel more inclusive in their meetings, especially when they’re all virtual. So now that we’ve added these three new features, sticky note, text, and drag and drop functionality, everybody is able to feel like they can contribute to the board. They won’t need a pen or a stylus or a touch screen.”

How can users get started with the new features in Whiteboard?
“With the new features, we’ve made this simple for users. As long as they’re deployed via Teams, you can just open up the share tray and start your whiteboard right away.”
For Users
Visio in Teams
Users can now add a diagram tab at the top of a channel/chat when working with Visio in Teams.
How to add it as a tab:
- Navigate to the diagram you want in Teams.
- Click on the three dots and select “Make this a tab”.
The diagram tab should now display at the top of your channel/chat.
This feature is only available to subscribers of Vision Plan one or two.
