For May, Microsoft 365 developed a few features including new support experience in the Teams Admin and Security and Compliance centres, a new 3×3 video layout in Microsoft Teams, as well as Planner integration with the Message Centre.
Let’s take an in-depth look at some of the May 2020 updates.
Updates for the Admin Centre
New Support Experience
Some of you might be familiar with the new support experience feature available in the Microsoft 365’s main admin portal. If so, you’ll be glad to know that all the positive feedback helped Microsoft to launch the same support experience feature in the Microsoft Teams and Security and Compliance centres.
If you’d like to explore the feature, sign in to either your Microsoft Teams or Security and Compliance admin centres. From there you can select the “Need help” flyout to open the help panel.
You will be able to:
- Search frequently asked questions
- Contact Microsoft support
- Open request tickets
- View outstanding request tickets
Planner Integration
The next new feature by Microsoft is all about integration of the Planner app now available in the message centre. The new feature will help you manage and sort tasks in your workflow by syncing messages between the planner app and the message centre.
Additionally, admins can choose which types of messages are synced. To access this feature, you must:
- Be an admin with access to the message centre
- Be a member of the planner plan that you are trying to access or sync
You cannot access this new feature if you are assigned to a reader role.
The feature is currently being rolled out to Microsoft 365 users and will be available to users worldwide by the end of June 2020.
New Video Layout in Microsoft Teams
The new 3×3 video layout is an exciting new feature for meetings held via Teams. The app now allows a maximum of nine participants to be visible during a meeting, instead of four.
Those with their camera turned on will be viewed on the main meeting screen, while audio users will continue to be displayed at the lower part.
Keep in mind
As everyone in the Teams meeting makes use of different hardware and bandwidth connections, the number of video feeds displayed will vary.
There isn’t a need for admins to set up the feature In Teams as these changes are available to all users.
Share PowerBI Reports Directly to Teams
This feature is for those of you making use of the Power BI option to share reports or only specific charts from the reports. You are now able to share these reports in the Teams app via the “Share to Teams” button.
You are able to share it with one individual or an entire team.
How Do I Share a Report in PowerBI?
In PowerBI, click on the “Share to Teams” button, and type in the team’s name you’d like to share the report with.
